Why train with a ball machine?

Pourquoi s’entraîner avec une machine lance-balles ?

Training regularly isn’t always easy when you depend on a partner or coach. A ball machine allows you to train on your own, at your own pace, and repeatedly work on specific situations you want to improve.

Whether you play tennis, padel or pickleball, a ball machine is about more than simply feeding balls continuously. Used properly, it allows you to build structured training sessions adapted to your level and goals.

Train whenever you want

Probably the biggest advantage is being able to train when no partner or coach is available.

The feed rate, speed and ball placement can be adjusted depending on your session. This allows you to train at your own pace without depending on another player’s level, availability or consistency.

A ball machine obviously doesn’t replace a partner or coach, but it’s a great way to complement your training with more repetition.

Repeat shots to improve consistency

Improving your game requires repeating the same shot or situation under consistent conditions.

Forehand, backhand, volley, return, bandeja… a ball machine allows you to focus on a specific area of your game without waiting for that situation to occur naturally during a rally.

PUSUN ball machines allow you to develop each exercise by adjusting the feed rate, speed, spin or placement, and by programming different sequences to gradually increase the difficulty.

Add movement and intensity

Training doesn’t have to be static. By varying ball placement and feed rate, a ball machine can also help you work on movement, recovery and endurance.

The goal is no longer simply to hit one good shot, but to maintain your shot quality while moving and hitting several balls in succession.

Tennis, padel or pickleball: different exercises

The principle is the same across all three sports, but the situations you need to practise are different.

In tennis, a ball machine can be used to work on baseline consistency, changes of direction, approach shots or volleys. In padel, exercises can include net play, overhead shots or situations involving the glass walls. In pickleball, training can focus more on dinks, volleys, drives or transitions towards the kitchen.
